Crystal River –

Flow: 282 cfs/Redstone, 282 cfs/Carbondale

Conditions: Runoff is now long gone and the Crystal is in fantastic shape and fishing well. Look for the best fishing to take place along the upper river from Redstone to Marble where water temperatures are cool and the hatches are steady. PMD’s, caddis and terrestrials are comprising the majority of hatches. The next month will yield the best fishing of the summer on the Crystal. To be most effective on this small freestone river you’ll want to cover water briskly with short precise casts in the tumbling pockets while maintaining stealth. We really like to throw dries or dry/dropper rigs on this small, friendly stream. Don’t overthink the hatches too much here – attractor patterns generally suffice for the resident rainbows, browns, brookies, cutts and whitefish.

Our private properties in Redstone and Marble are both fishing incredibly well right now too. With limited availability we strongly encourage you to make reservations with as much lead time as possible.

The fly shop is loaded to the gills with a ton of new fly tying merch, new rods and reels, new logo apparel and so, so much more. Swing by and help support your local independant fly shop!

Our guides know the Crystal River intimately – let us give you the highlight of your vacation!
