Flow: 170cfs/below Ruedi Reservoir

Conditions: While other fisheries in the area are struggling with runoff conditions, the Frying Pan River remains low and clear with good fishing though crowds are fairly high given the lack of options. Higher water flows are finally here again after fishing in a trickle for the past few months. Midges and BWOs are pretty common most days with the majority of rising fish being seen during afternoons and evenings. Nymphing prior to the hatches using small and dark BWO nymphs trailed with black or gray emergers has been best. The mysis shrimp fishing has been much improved with the increase in water flows. Sporadic hatches of caddis and stoneflies can be encountered along the lower river. The streamer bite has been pretty decent lately with the bigger water and the abundance of overcast we’ve had lately.
