Roaring Fork River

Flow: 336cfs/Aspen (Jaffe Park), 516cfs/Basalt, 1,150cfs/Glenwood Springs

Conditions: We are in the fishing window right now – don’t wait till July this year. Large attractor patterns are fishing well right now with the higher water. Green drakes will be in full force in another two weeks or so below Carbondale. As the river continues to drop, more and more fish will push away from the banks. Nymphing has been solid using Rubberleg Stones and green drake imitations like 20Inchers and Crown Jewels, as well as various caddis. PMD imitations will become more effective as the water drops. Streamer fishing has been much improved as the fish are now frequently looking up. Look for the best fishing to take place along the lower river from Carbondale to Glenwood at this time of year.
