Colorado River Fishing Report (Glenwood Springs – Rifle)
Flow: 1,310 cfs in Glenwood Springs
Conditions: Still currently under a full-day voluntary fishing closure. Monsoonal rain patterns and a change in the weather has helped water temps drop. Currently muddy again but we’re hopeful that the closure will be lifted in the coming days. The switch to fall conditions is lingering in the air but we’re not there quite yet. The streamer bite should be pretty decent. Favorite colors include white, yellow, purple and black. The hopper hatch is strong this year – and we’re anxious for those surface eats again. Tricos and BWOs are the most prevalent mayfly hatches. We anticipate the flows on the lower Roaring Fork to be too low to float in the coming weeks, just as the Colorado hopefully opens back up to fishing. I would expect heavy float traffic when the river does reopen.
