Colorado River –

Flow: 2,640 cfs/Glenwood Springs

Conditions: We’re on the back end of runoff now with currently great water conditions and happy fish. The time to float and fish the river is NOW before the heat kicks in and the fishing tapers off with our paltry runoff. The next few weeks are going to yield sensational fishing so be sure to take advantage. Green drakes are right on the horizon in the next two weeks and anglers should also expect to see golden stones, PMDs and caddis. Overcast days will now yield the best midday hatches with evenings providing the best dry fly opportunities. Fishing the right water (soft/slow) and keeping your fly in it is of more importance than fishing the right fly due to the higher water. Fish are slowly pushing off the banks as flows recede. The streamer bite has picked up as the fish are now accustomed to looking-up for food. It’s go time!!!
